Bike Fit

World Class Bike Fit

The bike fit studio is led by John Dennis. As a physiotherapist previously with the English Institute of Sport and British Triathlon, he has years of experience personalising riding positions to riders for comfort and performance.

A level 4 International Bike Fit Institute fitter, John regularly teaches courses in the UK and internationally and worked with numerous pro tour teams and triathletes as well as recreational riders looking for their ideal fit.

We cater to a wide range of disciplines, including road, gravel, competitive triathlon, and time trial bikes, ensuring your setup aligns perfectly with your goals.

Our process is powered by cutting-edge technology for precise, data-driven results:

  • Velogic Motion Capture — We use this advanced 3D real-time motion analysis system in-studio to capture accurate dynamic data, guiding and validating every adjustment during your session for optimal positioning and efficiency.
  • gebiomized saddle pressure mapping — This scientific tool provides detailed insights into saddle interface pressures, enabling evidence-based saddle selection and fine-tuning—especially valuable in our Advanced Fit sessions.

For those chasing a real competitive edge, we’re proud to be one of the first studios globally offering AiRO aerodynamic CFD testing. This cutting-edge digital wind tunnel technology models and validates your body position, helmet choice, and aero profile on TT, road, and gravel bikes, delivering measurable gains without expensive physical wind tunnel sessions.

How it works

Our Process

  1. 1. Rider Interview

Understanding your objectives, current comfort issues, injury history, and what you want to achieve.

  2. 2. Physical Assessment

What sets us apart. Drawing on our elite sport backgrounds, we evaluate off-bike movement patterns, restrictions, and asymmetries to predict and address on-bike function.

  3. 3. On-Bike Baseline Assessment

Using Velogic Motion Capture for simultaneous bilateral biomechanical analysis. High-speed cameras reveal details invisible to the naked eye. Important: Technology supports the fitter – it doesn’t replace skill. Our strength lies in expert interpretation and knowing how much change your body can adapt to in one session.

  4. 4. Interactive Adjustments & Reassessment

Changes to contact points, position, or equipment (shoes, saddles, bars, etc.) with continuous rider feedback. Pedal technique and postural guidance are integrated as needed.

  5. 5. Final Position & Report

Your optimised position is fully scanned, with a comprehensive PDF report emailed for your records. We often recommend targeted off-bike mobility or stability exercises to enhance long-term performance and comfort.

Advanced aero

Advanced Aero Optimisation – Powered by AiRO

To take your performance to the next level, we integrate AiRO — the world’s first AI-driven, CFD-modeled aero fit platform — into our Advanced and Performance Bike Fit packages.

Developed by leading aerodynamicist Ingmar Jungnickel (former lead at Specialized), AiRO brings wind tunnel-grade data directly to our studio. Using just key measurements, photos, and your current position, it creates a precise digital aero twin of you, powered by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) — the same technology trusted in Formula One and WorldTour teams.

This allows us to:

  • Quantify exact watt savings from positional changes (often 20–30+ watts for many riders)
  • Test helmet, bars, saddle, and posture variations instantly — without expensive wind tunnel sessions
  • Balance pure aero gains with comfort, power output, and injury prevention
  • Deliver data-backed recommendations that are validated against real wind tunnel results

Buying a bike?

PRE-PURCHASE BIKE FIT PROCESS

Avoid costly mistakes before you buy. Using our adjustable Muve fit bike, we dial in your ideal position and test multiple frame geometries, brands, and models. Modern integrated road and TT bikes make post-purchase changes expensive. We provide unbiased guidance based on your goals, budget, and physiology – including key coordinates like arm-cup stack and reach for TT setups.

FAQ

Bike fit FAQs

I’ve previously been fitted by Momentum – can you help me choose a new bike?

Absolutely. We translate your existing fit coordinates to new frames or explore fresh parameters on the fit bike.

Do you assess cleat position?

Yes – foot-pedal interface, shoe fit, and cleat placement are core elements. We offer off-the-shelf or custom insoles and can prescribe Lake cycling shoes where required.

What types of bikes do you work with?

Road, gravel, TT, and triathlon bikes – optimised for performance, speed, comfort, or endurance, always individualised to you.

How long does a fit take?

Typically 2–3 hours for one bike, 3–4 hours for two bikes, depending on adjustments needed.

What if I don’t currently own a bike?

The Muve fit bike allows us to establish your perfect prescription before you purchase, removing guesswork.

What should I bring?

Your bike (if fitting an existing one), cycling shoes, and tight-fitting kit (essential for accurate marker placement and motion capture).

What if we don’t have the right equipment to finish the fit?

We try to stock a key selection of saddles and bars/ front end components. If we need to source additional equipment we don’t have in stock a follow up appointment can be arranged without additional charges in most instances.

How long does a fit take?

Usually a standard fit will last 2-2.5 hours. A little longer for an advanced using the additional Gebiomized pressure mapping or if the fit is complicated.

Do you have an area to change?

Yes, we have changing rooms to change into cycling kit.

What should I bring?

Unless you are booking a pre purchase fit on the Muve bike, bring your bike in a clean condition, cycling kit including shoes, preferably tight fitting eg bib / tri shorts as we need to put markers on your shoulder and hip. Sleeveless tops also work well.
