Knee pain

Assessment and rehab for knee pain — from runner’s knee to osteoarthritis.

Common knee presentations we see

  • Runner’s knee / anterior knee pain (patellofemoral pain)
  • Iliotibial band–related lateral knee pain
  • Knee osteoarthritis
  • Patellar tendinopathy
  • Post-injury and post-operative knee rehab (including ACL pathways)

How we assess knee pain

  • History and aggravating activities (running, stairs, sport)
  • Strength, control and range at hip, knee and ankle
  • Running gait or movement assessment where relevant
  • Footscan / orthotic needs when load and foot mechanics contribute

Treatment building blocks

  • Load management and graded return to running or sport
  • Strength training (often proximal to distal)
  • Cadence / foot-strike changes when indicated
  • Manual therapy and soft tissue work where helpful
  • Supervised rehab in clinic when structure and equipment matter
