Joanne Blackburn

I am Senior Physiotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience delivering specialist rehabilitation across a wide range of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Throughout my career, I have developed extensive expertise in the assessment, treatment, and long-term management of individuals recovering from stroke, living with Parkinson’s disease, neurological disorders, and complex rehabilitation needs.

With over 20 years of experience as a Senior Physiotherapist, Joanne is passionate about helping people regain confidence, improve mobility, and achieve their personal goals through specialist rehabilitation.

Throughout her career, she has worked with individuals recovering from stroke, living with Parkinson’s disease, managing neurological conditions, and overcoming complex rehabilitation challenges.

Her specialist expertise includes neurological rehabilitation, stroke recovery, Parkinson’s disease management, orthopaedic rehabilitation, gait re-education, balance training, falls prevention, and amputee rehabilitation.

Joanne believes that every person’s rehabilitation journey is unique and takes a personalised, patient-centred approach, creating tailored treatment programmes that reflect each individual’s needs, abilities, and aspirations. Combining evidence-based practice with compassionate care, she works closely with patients and their families to support meaningful progress and long-term success.

Having worked across acute hospitals, community services, and specialist rehabilitation settings, she brings a broad range of clinical expertise and a deep understanding of the challenges people face during recovery. Whether supporting someone in the early stages of rehabilitation or helping them manage a long-term condition, her focus is always on maximising independence, function, and quality of life.

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing people achieve things they once thought were beyond their reach. Joanne is committed to providing expert, supportive, and holistic care that empowers every individual to reach their full potential.

Outside of work, Joanne loves spending time outdoors. You’ll often find her paddle boarding, camping, or out walking her dog. She also enjoys making the most of my free time with family and friends. Giving back to the community is important and she regularly takes part in charity runs to support a range of worthwhile causes.
